Citrus County Animal Services is asking for the public’s help in meeting the needs of financially challenged citizens who own pets. The goal is to help those residents afford to feed their pets.

Animal Services is asking citizens to deliver donations of pet food to their local food bank or to the Animal Services shelter in Inverness to help those residents keep their animals rather than have to surrender them to the shelter because they don’t have the money to feed them.

Animal Services shelter operations manager Pattie Amon said concerned citizens have been helping, but the food supplies are low. On behalf of the owners and their animals who have been helped by donations, she thanked all those who have contributed for their continuing generosity.
