motorcycle-accident-lifeThe intersection of Crystal Oaks and Hwy 44 became the scene of a fatal accident Easter Sunday just after 4pm.

Leonard J. Decisneros, 96, of Lecanto was traveling in a northwest direction on State Road 44 attempting to make a left turn onto Crystal Oak Drive.  Another vehicle, a 2006 Yamaha Roadstar was traveling in a southeast direction on State Road 44.  A third vehicle 3 was stopped on Crystal Oak Drive at the intersection of State Road 44.

Decisneros failed to observe the motorcycle driven by Gary Lynn McAllister, 60, of Grand Ledge Michigan, and entered the eastbound lanes. As a result, the front of the motorcycle struck the right side of the Lexus. The motorcycle then traveled onto Crystal Oak Drive and collided with the left front of the Expedition driven by Donald B.C. Schmidt, 28, of Lecanto.

Both of the riders on the motorcycle were ejected as a result of the collision.  McAllister sustained fatal injuries and expired at the scene of the crash. His passenger Janice Kay Bayha, 65, of Eustis, was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. Both McAllister and Bayha were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Decisneros was cited for an improper left turn.
