I thought we were in Florida

County News, Events, General Info, Opinions, Weather - Storm Information No Comments

Wow, it’s cold out.

How did I teleport north? I thought Citrus County was in Florida. Last night in Homosassa the temperature was 32° at 8:45 pm. Right now at 6:30 am the temperature is 19°!

Originally I am from Michigan and I could very easily get used to this weather. However, if we are going to have to put up with it we might as well get snow. Hey now, you should call me those things, it’s not nice.

Seriously it has been really cold the last couple of weeks, but they say it is going to warm up by the weekend. We should see temps in the mid 70′s Saturday and Sunday. Which personally I think that kind of weather is perfect.

After having these sub freezing conditions it will be nice to get out of the house this weekend. Maybe visit a park or wander around the flea markets. Just to get out and enjoy yourselves while it lasts. I don’t think that we have seen the last of the cold weather yet.

Tropical Update Friday am

Weather - Storm Information No Comments

Tropical Storm Hannah is currently 309 miles due east of Tampa. With wind speeds at 65 mph moving NNW at 20 mph. Currently our morning weather is beautiful cool and dry. However this may not last very long with hurricane Ike making his way into the area.

Hurricane Ike is currently a category 3 storm with winds of 125 mph, moving west at 15 mph. Ike is currently just over 1500 miles away from Tampa but on his current path could affect our weather by Wednesday. This storm is a dangerous threat to Florida and here in Citrus County we could be affected as well.

Being prepared is the key to any disaster. Please visit our weather pages to keep updated of the storms movements. I will be updating the weather sections and this blog as more information starts coming in, as well as adding more features to the site.
