Citrus County is located in the heart of central Florida, right on the Gulf Coast and is commonly known as the Nature Coast. We are the winter home of the manatee and at times can be the home of up to 400 manatees at a time. Citrus county has a population of close to 140,000 and still growing. Some of the major attractions to the area would be the fishing and boating, as the county has many fresh water lakes and fresh water springs. Located right on the Gulf of Mexico an avid fisherman can spend the entire day out on the water.
Citrus county also has many small shops for the avid shopper too. So if fishing is not your cup of tea check out the local shops located in Citrus County. You can shop for anything from Florida souvenirs to clothes and so on.

Citrus County Parks and Recreation has many different parks in the area to allow you time to just relax and let the children play in a safe environment. One of the major attractions would be the Homosassa Wildlife Park where you can check out the manatee up close and personal along with some of the other wildlife that make their home here in Citrus County.
And when your feet get tired of all the shopping check out the many local restaurants with local cuisine.

Citrus County offers many affordable hotels and motels located throughout the county. Along with those hotels and motels some of the historical houses in the county have been transformed into bed and breakfasts. Citrus county also offers a more primitive way of living in the many campgrounds located through out the county.
