November is Manatee Awareness month. Boaters and fishermen are incouraged to keep watch out for the Gentle Giants.
Now is the time of year when the Manatees start their migration into warmer waters. When the air temperature reaches below 50 degrees and the water temps are below 68 degrees they start their move.
Citrus County is the winter home for many of the Sea-Cows. Scientists believe it is because of the power plants out flow of warm water.
New speed zones have been put in place by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. The following counties have manatee-related speed zone changes - Brevard, Broward, Citrus, Dade, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lee, Levy, Palm Beach, Sarasota, St. Lucie and Volusia.
For more inforamtion about the new speed zones please vist the FWC’s Website. or call them at 850-922-4330.

After months of campaigning in the longest campaign in history we have finally come to the end. Voters are heading to the polls in record numbers today.
So far Citrus County has not reported any problems. Other districts in the state have only reported minor, temporary incidents such as voting machine jams. They all were cleared up within a few minutes.
I have not been to the polls yet but will be going after I leave the store. While there I will try and interview a few people about their experiences.
On the main site we have installed a countdown timer that is set to our time for poll closure. We will be posting the results of all of the local elections as well as the Presidential Race.
We want to know what your experiences have been with voting, - either today or early voting. Please Click on the comments above to leave us your comments. Also please visit the main site and answer our Poll about how long you had to stand in line.
